With sparkling light and vibrant colors, the photographer aims to convey the hidden beauty of the natural world through his photographs of glowing flowers.
The surprising truth about these giant flower trees is that they bloom as soon as someone approaches. The flower roads are beautiful like a “fairyland.” Without the need for Photoshop, these photos still make your eyes dazzle. The pure beauty, crystal-like, of these flowers turns translucent when in contact with water. The breathtakingly beautiful flowering plants that no one dares to approach because…
Enchanted by the splendor of nature, California-based photographer Craig Burrows has captured a series of photographs showcasing “bioluminescent flora” that captivate everyone at first sight.
With the naked eye, we would never see these stunning images.
Craig captures the visible fluorescence through the camera when ultraviolet (UV) rays shine on the flowers. In other words, by adjusting the camera to a specific speed, it captures images of flowers that appear to emit light when exposed to ultraviolet rays.
The flowers are illuminated with 365nm LED lights during the shoot.
With sparkling light and vibrant colors, photographer Craig Burrows aims to convey the hidden beauty of the natural world through his photographs of glowing flowers.
Unlike traditional photographs, Craig’s works are illuminated with 365nm LED lights (light near the ultraviolet region, with the peak at 365nm) during the shoot. Craig uses a 365nm LED light passed through a filter to emit ultraviolet and infrared light.
The flowers absorb this light and reflect visible light at various wavelengths. This allows Craig to capture images with multiple colors and a unique appearance compared to what is seen with the naked eye.
Without prior knowledge, many people would not guess that these are flowers.
In addition to his passion for capturing photos of bioluminescent plants caused by ultraviolet rays, the photographer also has a fascination for macro photography of insects, spiders, and fungi in natural light.
Regardless of the shooting style, Burrows aims to prove that nature is not only about external beauty but also the hidden beauty within.
