Can you spot the change? Katy Perry’s music video for the song “Dark Horse” originally had a male dancer wearing a pendant with the word “Allah” written in Arabic (on the left). However, due to a petition started by a upset Muslim man, the pendant has now been removed from the video (on the right).
The video depicts Perry portraying the role of an elegant Egyptian princess who is in search of her perfect match but ultimately ends up disintegrating each of her suitors who fail to meet her standards.
As soon as Perry encounters the first man, who flaunts an Allah pendant around his neck, he gifts her an enormous diamond. However, in a sudden turn of events, the man disintegrates into thin air.
The appeal stated that the video promotes disrespect towards religion and encourages people worldwide to support it by signing, emphasizing that no faith would accept irreverence towards the name of God.
The petition has been signed by 65,000 people hailing from different parts of the world such as Australia, India, and Saudi Arabia.
