On Thursday, fans were treated to the release of the trailer for the much-awaited movie, Argylle. This sneak peek showcases the stunning blonde Dua Lipa starring alongside a talented cast in this Apple Original and Universal Pictures production, directed by Matthew Vaughn of Kingsman fame. The film is set to hit theaters on February 2, 2024, and this first glimpse has certainly got fans excited.
In her first foray into acting, the 28-year-old singer looks stunning in a flashy gold minidress, taking on the role of Henry Cavill’s love interest. The trailer begins with Dua embodying the quintessential seductive female character, teasingly telling him, “I hope you dance as well as you dress,” to which he responds, “You’re about to find out,” before swooping her up in his arms.
Henry, a 40-year-old actor, and Dua both star as characters from Elly Conway’s (portrayed by Bryce Dallas Howard) novel in the movie Barbie. Henry portrays Agent Argylle, while Dua takes on the role of another spy.
The story revolves around a shy writer of spy novels who suddenly finds herself involved in real-life espionage after her fictional plots start mirroring the activities of a dangerous underground syndicate. Aiden, a secret agent, comes to her rescue when she is about to be abducted, and from there on, Elly and her cat Alfie are thrust into an undercover world full of danger and intrigue.
The lineup for the movie also features several famous names, such as Samuel L. Jackson, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, John Cena, Catherine O’Hara, Ariana DeBose, and Rob Delaney. Elly’s character is approached by Samuel’s character, who has links to the criminal underworld via his winery, and he reveals to her that it’s about time she met the genuine agent Argylle.
The upcoming movie is about Argylle, a renowned spy, embarking on an exciting adventure across the world. It was initially revealed in June 2021, with Matthew Vaughn as the director and Jason Fuchs as the screenwriter adapting the story from a novel by an unknown author named Elly Conway that hasn’t been released yet.
It appears that the author is a first-time publisher as their upcoming novel Argylle has not been released yet. The initial release date of September 29, 2022, was postponed to March 29, 2023, and now the new expected date is November 9, 2023.
In August 2021, Apple made a huge announcement regarding their acquisition of the rights to an unpublished manuscript for $200 million. The director, Vaughn, expressed his admiration for the manuscript and compared it to Ian Fleming’s spy books from the ’50s. He also stated that it will revolutionize the spy genre. However, little information is available about the author.
