The Watauga River Lodge, situated on the trophy section, offers an excellent location for a fishing holiday. The lodge is known for its gigantic Browns, football-shaped Bows, and bug chugging Brookies. Even if you’re not into fishing, the river lodge is still a fantastic place to stay. If you are interested in fishing, you can bring your own equipment, or the guides will provide all of the necessary information to help you catch these trout. Moreover, the Watauga River Lodge also offers smallmouth or wild fish trek, or a float trips. Their guides are trained to make sure you have an enjoyable experience throughout the year. Additionally, the Watauga River Lodge’s stunning surroundings and amenities make it a perfect spot for weddings, corporate retreats, or family reunions.
Nestled within a grove of hardwoods is the stunning river lodge, boasting two new log buildings that pay homage to the historic cabin built on-site back in 1827. The larger structure can be split into three rooms, each with its own entrance, two queen-sized beds, and a private bathroom. For those anglers looking for luxury and seclusion, the second cabin building is the perfect choice. Additionally, the range cabin is available on the property, which was originally built in 1861 and has undergone extensive restoration. With two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a living area, and gourmet cooking space, this wood cabin can comfortably sleep four. Guests may also choose to stay in the main cabin building, where three suites share a full-length front porch overlooking the river. Each room has its own back entrance, two queen-sized pillow-top beds, and a full bathtub. Tom’s Cabin, a standalone one-bedroom building boasting a cutoff limestone shower, fully equipped kitchen, two queen-sized beds, and a screened porch with a stone gas log fireplace, is also available. Finally, the BBQ Shack, originally a fish camp shelter, has been transformed into an outdoor kitchen with a fire pit outside. The Watauga River, located in eastern Tennessee, is famous for being one of the best trout fishing spots in the south. With over 2000 fish per mile, it’s no wonder that the Watauga’s Cherokee translation means “a river of abundance.” The 16-mile tailwater receives cold water daily from Wilbur dam, making it the perfect environment for aquatic insects and year-round fishing. Guests can enjoy the river’s breathtaking scenery, including pictorial farms, bluffs, and towering cliffs, while fishing for a variety of species.
