Are you fed up with us constantly refreshing? Or perhaps you’re tired of hearing the word refresh? I hope not, because we’ve done it again. Spring is the time for us to clear everything out and start anew. We make plans, create a blank slate, and refresh everything. I particularly love revamping our outdoor spaces. We want to spend more time outside; whether we’re completing our garden area or spending time with Grace. It’s always nice to have a cozy spot to relax outdoors.
Let’s start things off by saying that we have some exciting plans for our patio area this year! It’s been begging for some attention lately as the patio-pavers are becoming disjointed, and there’s a dead tree stump in the landscaped space between our patio and driveway. We’re still in the design phase, so I won’t go into too much detail just yet. However, we did find a charming little spot on our unfinished patio that we want to turn into a cozy farmhouse-style sitting area.
If you’re in need of a comfortable spot to relax, the Woodstock Sectional with Ottoman from Joss Main is a great option (link provided). Not only does it add depth to your space with its rich color scheme, but it also serves as a fantastic focal point. In addition to seat and back cushions, this sectional also comes with outdoor pillows. However, we opted to replace the pillows with ones we already owned and protected them with ScotchGard Weather Seal to prevent any damage from the elements. If you haven’t used ScotchGard Weather Shield before, we highly recommend it – check out our post on “How To Make Any Fabric Outdoor Safe” for more information (link provided). Setting up the sectional is effortless, as it arrives fully assembled. It’s the perfect size for hosting guests or simply relaxing at home with a loved one.
When taking a break outside, having some shade is a must. I prefer not to spend too much time under the sun, so it’s only fitting to have an umbrella in our cozy farmhouse patio. I’m particularly fond of this umbrella because of its vibrant color, drop cloth material, and cute tassels. However, I wouldn’t dare bring it inside our sunroom, as that may invite some bad luck.
To complete the setup, we added a Woven Chevron outdoor rug to anchor everything down and create a cohesive look. Without it, the space felt incomplete, and the sectional and ottoman seemed out of place. But with the rug, the area comes together seamlessly and feels more put together.
To maintain a peaceful and relaxing ambience, I decided to adorn this area with antique and vintage pieces that exude the classic farmhouse vibe complete with their chipped appearance. Among these items are a sizeable dough bowl, a large green jug, chippy baskets I found at a flea market, and a rusty garden chair. Adding some verdant elements to breathe life into the space, I incorporated greens such as lemon trees from my friend Angie who sells them at our store and large ferns that I purchased from a local hardware shop. Keeping it cozy, neutral, and rustic, I achieved the look and feel that I desired. For the white screen enclosure at the back, they were conveniently bought from Amazon (link).
